HALESIA carolina 
A beautiful small tree with clusters of white bell shaped flowers in May which resemble snowdrops; hence its common name of Snowdrop Tree. Winged, pear shaped fruit. Good soil is important.

HALESIA carolina U. Conn. Wedding Bells'
This is a superb selection from the University of Connecticut, with significantly larger flowers.

HALESIA monticola var. vestita 
Similar to the above but larger in all respects. The white flowers which are often tinged pink can be up to 3cm across. The fruits are up to 5cm long.
